Federico Tomazic successfully defended his PhD thesis with the title “Particle Self-Assembly into Complex Suprastructures: The Role of Shape and Interaction”
June 3, 2025 – In his thesis, Federico Tomazic investigated the relation betwen nanoparticle interaction and the formation of a desired self-assembled suprastructure. He used coarse-grained models to represent nanoparticles and predict self-assembly outcomes, including the ordering of colloidal particles inside drying droplets, the formation of monolayers due to steric frustration and the self-assembly of regular porous structures caused by nanoparticle anisotropy.
